Well, from what my Japanese friends tell me, any kind of TP reception on a barefoot portable radio it is considered a pretty goodÂDXing accomplishment, unless the listener is very close to an ocean beach (maybe similar to our own situation, here on the west coast?). My guess is that the DXer lives right next to the ocean (hisÂYouTube user name is "Yokohama AA815"). As for why the Degen was an underperformer (even though its stock loopstick is probably the best among these portables), maybe the propagation took a dive whenÂthe Degen'sÂturn came up? There are no guarantees in TP-DX propagation :-)Â

The tatami backdrop is very fitting, hi.

portables, and from 30 miles south of one of the
world's largest cities. ÂI wonder why the Degen was noisier than the others?

best wishes,

Nick
