[IRCA] NOISE-BEATING
I've been involved in recent threads with some of you, regarding common-mode
noise suppression.
I went to Fair-Rite with a question about suppression on USB cables and
wanted to share the response:
Hi Mark, Thank you for your Ask the Adviser question! While I am unsure
as to what is the source or frequency of your common-mode noise, given
that USB clock frequency is 24 MHz I would say that 61-material would be
suppressing at too high a frequency (> 200 MHz) to have an major impact.
Instead, may I suggest trying a broad-band material such as 31 (operating
between 1 MHz and 300 MHz) or 43/44 (operating between 25MHz and 300 MHz).
As for the number of turns, this is proportional to the impedance you
require (Z ~ N^2) and again depends on the amount of noise suppression your
system requires - typically one turn (or one pass through the aperture of
the core) should be sufficient. Hope this helps! Sincerely, Rachael Parker
Cheers!

There's SO much I still don't know!
