[IRCA] TP 29 Feb Victoria version

Definitely a much more East Asian morning today, specifically higher band Japanese, lots of erratic signals from about 1430 to 1450UT, only a strong carrier on 1377 today.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

1566 HLAZ man in Chinese 1440UT, woman sounding Chinese underneath also

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK man in Japanese 1446UT
1503 JOUK man in Japanese 1451UT, ID'd at 1446UT when weaker with pop music, but //594
1593 CNR1 man in Chinese //6125, Japanese underneath 1453UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

603 soft music assumed HLSA, but 558 was pop music, 1446UT
702 2BL odd man out, 1428UT, man in DU English, seemed //612 which was much weaker
747/774 JOIB/JOUB man talking slowly in Japanese
1278 pop music, woman in Japanese 1446UT
1386 two stations, one was NHK2 //774 at 1447UT woman in Japanese
1413 woman in Japanese 1447UT
1494 man talking Japanese, better on north Flag 1452UT, 1287 not available

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

972 portentous music 1434UT
1134 two stations, pop music and man talking slowly and quietly, maybe Korean?1439UT
1143 unID, woman talking, sounded more Korean than Chinese 1443-46UT
1269 female vocal 1444UT
1296 woman and man talking, sounded Japanese
1314 man talking, too weak to guess at language 1437UT
1323 two stations, woman and man talking, and pop music 1445UT
1422 woman talking, maybe Japanese 1435UT
1512 NHK2 woman talking //774 1448UT
1584 NHK1 man talking //1503, better on north Flag, 1446UT, also 1450UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

828 873 891 1098 1116 1206 1242 1287 1359 1377 1458

best wishes,

Nick
