[IRCA] TP 20 Jan Victoria version

All Asia today, including a second tier Japanese on 702. Quite a surprise, given conditions.

There was a lively period before 1400UT, then another around local sunrise.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK older woman in Japanese on phone 1524UT, male announcer responding; this station still quite audible at 1550UT 774 JOUB man in Japanese 1511-12UT, in and out, though weaker, until s/off with chimes, through 1544UT
972 HLCA woman in Korean 1527UT

(747 also very close to this level 1523UT)

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

747 JOIB man in in Japanese 1506UT //774; still quite good during s/off chimes 1541-4UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

828 JOBB man in Japanese 1326UT //747

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

567 JOIK man talking, sounded Japanese, 1411UT, no 594 at this time; finally snagged a parallel at 1526UT 702 NHK2 synchros man talking, then music, 1518UT //774. I believe a few notes of the s/off chimes crept through at 1543UT
1053 Korean jammer 1201, 1320, 1359UT
1116 woman on phone to male announcer, DU English inflection 1326UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

738 873 891

best wishes,

Nick
