- Thread-topic: American TP Stations Received in Western Japan
Hi Nick,
Â
<<<ÂÂ Do you know any of the background to these loggings? ÂI notice they

encloses Lake Biwa, so I wonder if there were DXpedition
sites?ÂÂÂÂ >>>
Â
Unfortunately the Japanese DXer who posted this link on the Facebook page isn't one of theÂKyoto-Shiga area DXer group who made the loggings, so he didn't include any background information. Almost all of the serious Japanese transoceanic DXers useÂPerseus-SDR receivers, though (although aÂfew of these also have taken up Ultralight radio DXing as a new challenge, for a change of pace).ÂÂ
Â
Of course the reception area in westernÂJapan obviously isn't ideal for North American reception,Âsince the prime ocean beaches for that activity are in the isolated NE parts of the country. As such, the TP stations on the map representÂones with enough strength to get through serious Japanese domesticÂQRM. It's safe to say that far more American TP's can be received on the isolated beaches of NE Honshu and Hokkaido.
Â
73, Gary

Thanks for posting this Gary.
Do you know any of the background to these loggings? ÂI notice they
are from Kyoto and Shiga. Â If I remember correctly, Shiga prefecture
encloses Lake Biwa, so I wonder if there were DXpedition
sites? Â There's also a Shiga village on Lake Biwa, or at least a
former neighbor who comes from there told me so several years ago,
and I imagine she would have known, hi.
best wishes,
Nick
