[IRCA] 12 October 2015 TP/DU Victoria B.C. Canada

As everyone else observed, today was not one in the win column -
That said, it enticed and teased for a significant part of the pre-dawn
phase.

567 NHK JAPAN 1325 UTC - JJ om talk // to a very impressive 594

594 NHK JAPAN 1329 UTC - stellar signal for what would be the sweet spot of
the morning - completely in the clear with
JJ back and forth conclusion to some drama.

612 ABC Australia 4QR Brisbane 1403 UTC - YL reading news // live stream -
at good levels later on in a session filled
with extra noise lower band and what seemed to be a splatter festival on
the band - like more than usual.

621 UNID 1340 to 1350 UTC Very loud signal next to 620 but only getting
murmurs of language by YL for over a 1/2 hour of the first phase
of the session but around 5db below intelligence.

639 UNID 1335 As above - a solid signal at times but struggling with noise
and splash and simply not getting a viable go of it

675 UNID 1335 to 1400 UTC - a solid signal on Nick's FB the entire morning
but little more than a solid carrier here
that would squeeze out a peep occasionally.

702 ABC 1404 UTC Australia 2BL - minor treat with YL reading news // live
stream

747 NHK JOIB Sapporo 1408 UTC - JJ OM taking a hammering from Vancouver and
Portland splash - fair on peaks - 774 JOUB Akita (as always)
puts on a better show - and was present 100% of listening session so I
won't give it an "official" log entry - or 828 Khz Osaka for that matter.

891 ABC Adelaide 5AN 1412 UTC - Assume the YL / OM back and forth
deliciously // to live stream - for around 2 minutes of good copy -
noted by the 4 words by YL, 4 words by OM, 4 words by YL etc -- earlier
this frequency was plugged by a struggle by 2, maybe 3 other
stations with no clear winner but near audio and bare bones audio the
entire session.

1116 4BC Australia 1402 UTC News talk with YL and OM

Audio snippets, great carriers and empty promises for moments between 1320
and 1405:
529 SQM Alaska (often S9 but just recognizable whispers...) 558, 756, 837,
909, 918, 972 (Usual Korea with head above water...)
1017 jumble of stuff but nothing on top..., 1053 Korea Jammer - frequently
but not constantly with stutter jam, 1098 Big carrier but
little in the way of good stuff... 1143 what sounded like light classical
music

OK - so maybe this AM was a little meatier than originally suggested.

DRAKE R8 with W/NW Flag - DIY VACTROL termination controller - Wellbrook
FLG100 head
ICOM R71A & AOR 7030+ on the ALA100 N/S 9 meter loop at 12'
