[IRCA] Belated unusual loggings
North American DX-ers enjoyed a few weird DX nights about a week ago, so we
set out a 140-ft D-Kaz to see whassup.
The brief loggings below reflect these notes from a 6 AM CDT SDR-catch on on
041615 :
1. NO Canadians! Normally about 50 percent of signals would have been
Canadian stations.
2. Array pointed NNW from Central Minnesota but most signals were West and
Southwest (High-latitude path skewing? Auroral?)
3. All signals had "fur" on the edges...a layer of sharp but minor impulse
noise rode on each station. But interestingly, the noise floor on a vacant
area (around 400 kHz) was below -110 dbm...quite normal.
4. There were a lot of mixes, where normally a lot of channels are
monogamous.
5. I found some "new" stations (previously unlogged even after repeated
tries under 'normal' conditions.)
