[IRCA] TP 28 Jan Victoria version

That was a bit of a wild ride, compounded by the fact that I always seemed to be on the wrong antenna; there were serious differences between the north and west Flag this morning. Most vivid was the sub-600kHz opening on the west Flag that was hardly there at all on the north Flag around 1520UT. Slightly later, as Bruce said, the upper band had more emphasis especially on the north Flag, then everything crashed just after 1535UT for the most part, except HLAZ which held on thunderously until it started to fade after 1540UT

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

594 JOAK man and woman JJ 1521UT
603 HLSA male ballad, KK talk 1521UT
1503 JOUK man in JJ 1533UT //594 sometimes much stronger, sometimes weaker
1566 HLAZ man and woman in CC, musical interludes 1530UT until after 1540UT

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

558 HLQH male ballad 1521-3UT //603 w/JOCR nipping at its heels w/man in JJ
1557 Taiwan vocal pop mx 1532UT best on north Flag
1593 CNR1 man in CC 1535UT, briefly at this level and //6125; earlier, may have been NHK2, but no parallels

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

531 JOQG man in JJ //594 1521UT
540 NHK1 synchros man in JJ //531 1521UT; catch of the morning, dominant on channel at times
774 JOUB man in JJ 1509UT
1422 JORF man in JJ 1523UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music)

567 JOIK man in JJ //594 1521UT
1242 JOLF? man talking 1534UT, JJ inflection
1575 lively vocal pop mx 1528UT; didn't sound VoA; by 1530UT, not enough left to hang your hat onto

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary" audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter)

576 612 1269 1359 1377 1386 1458 1539 1584

best wishes,

Nick
