[IRCA] Recent Travels

Hi Al:

Just back from long trip. Saw our old friend Bruce Heimburger in South Carolina. He came to Due West to see our daughter in a play on Saturday. He and Carolyn are doing well. Bruce edited EDXF for many years in the 1970s.

Noted KFNS, 590, Wood River, Illinois and WANS, 1280, Anderson, SC, both off and completely silent (no carriers). KFNS noted off 11/1, and WANS noted off 11/9.

WBKW, 1070, Beckley, WV is on, but is no longer gospel. Is // 93.5, WBKW-FM, which runs a rather eclectic mix of black and white gospel and country. The AM had a lot of background noise that sounded somewhat like a continuous dial tone. The FM had a fair amount of mid frequency hiss (hiff might be a better way to describe it). I can't imagine being a regular listener of any station with that kind of background noise.
