Yes, Chuck, this would have been around 2009, when the "E100 Slider" was the hottest modified Ultralight around. Walt made an incredibly detailed report of New Zealand station formats, and posted it on the IRCA list.
The "E100 Slider"Âhad a sliding loopstick coil, which required careful adjustment for peak sensitivity. But when carefully adjusted, it was the most sensitive portable around. It also had a transplanted Murata CFJ455K5 IF filter (Guy Atkins' suggestion)-- which cost more than the radio itself :-)

I think Gary is referring to Walt's earlier travels while lounging in the South Pacific 'tween Godzone and Tonga... soft touch stuff... 819 and 1008 are locals.
