Perseus has a 50 ohm input Mark, while a long wire, especially for
NDB frequencies is high impedance. Some sort of matching
transformer and likely a separate ground rod for the antenna side
would probably help.
I can post a diagram later today if that doesn't already tell you
everything you need to know.
