Hello All,
Â
Asian signals rebounded very well this morning, shaking off the slump of the solar-challenged weekend. Both the Japanese and Korean big guns wereÂwell represented, with the Korean mega-station 972-HLCA freakishly strong from 1440-1500. Some interesting signals from 657-Pyongyang (interesting strength, not programming)Âand 738-BEL2 rounded out the morning.
Â
The session started here at 1305 with 657-Pyongyang already at a fair to good level with its Korean female tirades, along withÂvery good signals from the Japanese and Korean big guns on 594, 693, 747, 774, 828, 972 and 1053. In addition to 657-Pyongyang the low band was especially favored with second-tier Asians during this predawn darkness period, with both 531-JOQG (// 594) and 558-HLQH (// 603) reaching fair levels in and out, and 603 having a fair level mix of HLSA's pop music and Chinese male-female conversation. 738-BEL2 was also managing similar signals in the KCBS splatter, although it was the Japanese big guns on 594, 693 and 747 that were the real stars of the predawn darkness, reaching excellent levels in and out from 1330-1400. Sunrise enhancement around 1410 didn't seem to be anything special in the beginning, but by 1430 the Korean big gun 972-HLCA started to build up some pretty unusual strength. By 1440 (in bright daylight) it was pegging the PL-380ÂS/N display continuously asÂthe "Freedom 970" Portland splatter was becoming a reverse case of HLCA causing splatter onÂPortland-- whichÂbailed out promptly. HLCA then continued its monster run past the 1500 TOH right up until about 1507, when all the other TP's had long since faded out.ÂThe only other stations seeming to receive a late boost around 1435 wereÂ657-Pyongyang (with its Chinese co-channel) andÂ738-BEL2 after the KCBS fade, although both 558-HLQH and 639-CNR1Âstuck around at a weak level until around 1445. 972-HLCA's monster run from 1440-1500 was its strongestÂperformance yet here this season, andÂone of its best signals everÂin Puyallup.
