Hello All,
First of all, congratulations to Richard in Oklahoma for the reception of his first TP audio of the new season (774-JOUB) on his PL-606 and PL-310 Ultralight radios this morning! The TP-chasing session here featured an excellent variety of Asians both during the predawn darkness and after sunrise, although few of them managed very potent audio. With the exception of 1566-HLAZ around 1233 and the 1053-Jammer around 1315, most of the signals were modest at best.
During the predawn darkness around 1235 the usual big guns on 594, 693, 774, 972, 1053, 1134, 1287 and 1566 were joined by a weak collection of Chinese and Korean stations on 603, 639, 657, 738, 1044 and 1323. These weak stations generally were in and out of the noise with ghostly audio until the first sign of daylight around 1300, when audio improved slightly on 603 (a weak mix of Chinese and HLSA), 738 (an apparent BEL2, with Chinese conversation) and 1044 (CRI's Japanese service). 639-CNR1 and 657-Pyongyang never improved in audio, though, while none of the Japanese seemed to get any daylight boost either. Only the 1053-Jammer seemed to get a potent sunrise enhancement boost, reaching its best jam of the new season around 1315. Overall the session was notable for the first audio of the new season from 603-China (Hulun Buir?), which has provided stiff competition for HLSA during certain Fall DX seasons (such as the 2012 season).
