Hi Bill,
Good luck on your Oregon coast trip, and I hope that the Kiwi DX rolls in for you (like it did for Chuck and me at Rockwork 4 last week).
<<< I went by Rockworks 4 yesterday and once you saw it, Mark, you would NOT want to
attempt a DKAZ! Even those who do not suffer from vertigo would âthink twiceâ
about the drop! ;-) >>>
Rockwork 4 definitely has limited space, and will never accommodate large single-loop wire antennas (like a DKAZ). On the other hand, the Cliff seems to provide a potent transoceanic propagation boost for smaller antennas, like the 15' x 15' Flag, used by Chuck last week, and my own 15" FSL. For Perseus-SDR DXers, the big question is probably whether the Cliff's potent transoceanic signal boost will enable smaller broadband antennas to outperform large single-loop wire antennas set up at sea level. Chuck's favorable Kiwi results at Rockwork 4 last week should provide some new input in the discussion.
<<< However, a 160â DKAZ erected at 800â ASL down the coast a bit between Yachats
and Florence, OR was getting almost as good a signal on 531 as Gary had. >>>
As usual, I'll be very interested in your loggings and MP3's, Bill. I'm still sorting out the UnID's and MP3's from last week's trip to Rockwork 4-- a very wild trip. Chuck and I both agree that Rockwork 4 really rocks!

That IS a great demo video Gary. And great loggings too, as usual.
If itâs July on the northwest coast radio guys are out doing crazy things to
hear DU DX!
I went by Rockworks 4 yesterday and once you saw it, Mark, you would NOT want to

about the drop! ;-)
However, a 160â DKAZ erected at 800â ASL down the coast a bit between Yachats
and Florence, OR was getting almost as good a signal on 531 as Gary had. More
later but I just arrived at a place called San Souci up an old logging road
about a mile off Rt. 101 in a Home Away rental that Iâve been to a couple of
previous summers and it never fails to satisfy.
BTW, Iâm NOT using remote Rt on this DKAZ nor one I left behind for a few days
at Grayland. Ended up using the old âbring the radio to the antennaâ method
using a very nice Anker battery that puts out 5V [for the Perseus] and 12V [for
a Wellbrook FLG100LN] at the same time! Ended up terminating the Grayland DKAZ
with 867 ohms and the one here in San Souci with 820 ohms. More later on null
depths but theyâre âsufficient.'
