Keep in mind that the 2010's are now, what, into their 3rd decade of
service?
We need to face the facts that many of the more volatile components in
these radios (like the capacitors)
are at the upper end of their lifetime. You have to ask yourself whether or
not it is worth a bit of work.
As a technician I try to keep my receivers as happy as possible - and I am
always sad to see one pass
beyond the realm of fix-ability.

I used to have an open offer to look at and fix pretty much any receiver
but my days at work are far too busy now --
have just about enough free time to look after my own stuff -
And in the period of time that I have been fixing Sony radios (for free by
the way) have had quite
a few radios that have a hard life - some so much so that I had to turn
them away immediately...
but that is quite rare.

I had one Panasonic come to me one weekend from a local that had some
issues I could deal with --
but it looked like the radio had lived inside of a barn for the last 2
decades -
I said thanks but no thanks.

Good luck with it!
