Apparently there was one that worked in Egypt. There were plans to use one on the Isle of Man longwave station but the station never materialised.

Those of us of a Certain Age may well recall the CFA of the 60's and 70's -
The 'Joystick VFA'.
Go search it out on the net, it was very popular for a while. I suspect that eventually people figured out that the feed line was the active component of the antenna...
