As is often the case, I was not on the same planet as Gary and Dennis.
I had no traces of TPs below 1550, even though I scanned the SDR
recording from one end of the dial to the other over a 4+ hour period
(1150-1605). VOA-1575 was the only stellar performer today.
Good - Much of it would be understandable to a native speaker
1575 VOA, 1457 man in SE Asian language. 1500 Theme music, someone
said about half a syllable, then signal abruptly disappeared (pattern
change?) . Similar thing at 1529:40 there was nothing, then carrier
suddenly appeared about 20 db above the noise. "Welcome to the Voice of
America in Burmese" ID 1530, then theme music and news, one story
mentioned the CIA. I can't say I've previously noticed changes in
signal levels at 1500 and 1530, even though I've listened here at those
times.....
Fair - a native speaker would have recognized a few words and phrases
1566 HLAZ, Japanese talk 1240, otherwise poor-nil
Poor - I probably could have dug a few syllables out of the KLFE-1590
splatter if it had been worth the effort :)
1593 CNR?, decent carrier visible at times on SDR display 1525-1540.
