[IRCA] TP 21 Jan, Victoria version

Yes, it was pretty hot on the band today, but briefer than what Bruce heard, with the peak between about 1530 and about 1543UT, and quickly downhill from there. 1535UT was quite a wild moment... Also heard were a couple of low band NHK1 to round things out.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least briefly):

1566 HLAZ...1543UT briefly rose to this level and collapsed; man in CC, best on north Flag
1575 VoA ...also peaking on north Flag at 1543UT, man in SE Asian language

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK man in JJ 1440 to 1445UT
1386 NHK2 synchros, best w/ EE lessons 1536UT, and faded by ID time at 1540UT; sounded pretty echoey, so more than one?
1494 woman and man in JJ 1539UT best on north Flag
1602 NHK2 anthem and chimes 1540-1543UT

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker:

612 JOLK man in JJ //1503 and 594 at 1537UT, the strongest at that time, soon giving way to 1503
1314 JOUF likely, woman in JJ 1535UT6
1332 JOSF likely, man and woman in JJ 1530UT
1404 pop mx 1533UT, female vocal, not //1494
1431 unID male ballad 1537UT, too much 1430 splash to make much sense of what followed
1503 JOUK man and woman in JJ 1538UT
1593 NHK2, opening bars of anthem 1540UT

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

666 JOBK woman in JJ 1535UT //612, 1503, 594
774 JOUB man talking JJ inflection 1349UT (how have the might fallen...)
828 JOBB traces of the CC lesson theme mx, pips at 1400UT, then galumphing intro to EE lessons
1224 JOJK woman talking //1503 at 1535UT
1395 unID oriental sounding instrumental mx 1537UT
1422 JORF? woman talking JJ inflection 1453UT
1476 NHK2 man and woman talking //1386 at 1535UT, barely there in 1470 racket; opening bars of anthem cut through at 1540UT also. That anthem is a regular foghorn...it ID'd several NHK2 for me this morning. 1512 NHK2 a little bit of talk 1538UT //1386, then the anthem made itself known 1540UT
1539 NHK2 what can I say...opening bars of the anthem 1540UT
1584 NHK1 woman talking //1503, 1541UT

Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

558 738 1278 1557

best wishes,

Nick
