Hello All,
As Walt has already noted, it was a very good morning for Asian signals, with several second-tier TP stations managing good audio on the low band. 603-HLSA, 639-CNR1, 648-VOR and 738-BEL2 all had their moments of decent audio here, and a generous sunrise enhancement extended the session past 1500 here (quite unusual, for this landlocked location).
The band started off with excellent big gun TP signals on 594, 747, 774, 972, 1053 and 1566 from 1300-1330, and unlike yesterday, the signals did not slide downward as sunrise approached. Also unlike yesterday, low band TP's like 558-HLQH, its parallel 603-HLSA and 639-CNR1 came out of the noise with vibrant signals around 1410, as the Korean KBS2 stations played their typical long music sets and CNR1 had male-female Chinese news. 738-BEL2 came up to decent signals with its standard call-in talk program at 1350, and 1017-CRI managed good signals with its Korean service at 1355. 648-VOR came up in strength to a good level at 1408 with its Chinese service, and stayed that way (along with 639-CNR1) for a very long period until around 1425. Unfortunately 648-VOR continued to be troubled by an odd noise on the frequency, causing some problems on one of its best signals of the season. 657-Pyongyang was also very vibrant during this 1415-1445 period with its ancient music, and 936-!
Anhui (presumed) had its moments of fair audio around 1430 with Chinese male-female speech. Asian signals continued to come in past 1500 here for the first time this season, with 972-HLCA strong with 3 + 1 pips at the TOH., and continuing to come in until about 1510. It isn't very impressive compared to the big gun TP receptions reported by Nick and Dennis well after 1600, but I'll take it anyway :-) Overall it was an excellent session, and hopefully an indication of better things to come.
