I'd have to agree with Bruce about it not being quite as good this
morning, but I'm impressed at how much he digs out from under his
locals. A lot of the same stations as yesterday, but harder to dig them out.
Looking at signal strengths recorded overnight shows that the low
band Asian path seems to be starting up around 1100UT, and peaking
about 1330UT; the high band doesn't have nearly the same zip, as I'm
sure most on the coast have observed.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker,
at least briefly):
594 JOAK man in JJ 1325UT and other times (and fading to nothing
other times); this held in long enough for weak pips at 1400UT
747 JOIB 1323UT EE lessons, "first you have to boil the roots",
discourse on licorice; great fun
774 JOUB 1325UT and other times
828 JOBB peaking to this at 1332 w/EE lessons, and another
educational discourse on the licorice root
972 HLCA man in KK presumably discussing music, as another man kept
bursting into a capella singing in KK, 1340UT. They seem to enjoy
themselves at this station. A couple of times, it's sounded like a
party in the studio.
1566 HLAZ man in JJ 1250UT
Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it
understandable by a native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
189 R. Rossii woman in RR 1302UT //279
567 JOIK forthright man talking in JJ 1322UT //594
657 N. Korea man and woman in forthright KK 1318UT
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be understood by a native speaker:
279 R. Rossii woman in RR //189 1302UT
891 JOHK man and woman in JJ //594 1345UT
945 CNR1 classical violin //6030 1336UT
1143 unID slow singing 1341UT, earlier, woman talking CC inflection
1206 Yanbian presumed, briefly at this level, woman in KK in 1200
splatter, 1314UT
1287 JOHR light lively mx followed by two men in JJ 1313UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be
guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in
talk or music) :
531 JOQG? really reaching, but heard NHK pips at 1300UT, and man
mumbling, might have been //594
585 JOPG slow JJ inflected talk by man //567 1309UT
603 HLSA? man talking KK inflection interspersed with bits of light mx 1317UT
639 CNR1 classical mx //6030 and 945 1326UT
666 JOBK man in JJ inflected talk //567 1304UT
693 JOAB quiet voiced man //774 1355UT, still hanging in there, one
of the last audios this morning.
756 CNR1 classical violin //6180 1335UT
981 CNR1 classical mx //639 1326UT
954 JOKR? woman talking JJ inflection 1322UT
1053 KK jammer never amounted to much today 1348UT
1242 JOLF? man and woman JJ inflection, 1342UT
1251 man and woman talking, sounded CC 1342UT
1323 CRI woman talking RR inflection 1318UT //963 at a similar level
Strongish het, no or "near imaginary"audio (either undermodulated or
ravaged by splatter):
702(hum) 864 909 918 927SAH 936 1035 1332 1575
best wishes,
Nick
