** MEXICO. 540, March 18 at 0601 UT, ``Soy Soldado`` super-patriotic recitation, 0602 ID mentioning 540 and FM 106.9? I was expecting usually dominant XETX, but its FM is 90.5, while XEWA SLP has 103.9, presumably what I was hearing, as 3 and 6 sound almost alike in Spanish. Then into choral NA. XEWA has become a rarity, can`t be 150 kW non-direxional any more (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 540, March 20 at 0510-0520 UT, `Los 40 Principales` slogans and pop music, YL DJ, i.e. current format of XEWA San Luis Potosí, SLP. Lots of QRM but this signal stays marginally atop with receiver aimed N/S; I still can`t believe it`s anywhere near the nominal 150 kW. Slogan is a cumbersome translation of English ``Top 40``, but now widespread in Mexico, one in every market, it seems. In this case, I wonder if frequency 5-40 has anything to do with decision to put it on XEWA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 560, March 21 at 0615 UT, immediately on tune-in ID as ``La Tremenda``, which means per Cantú:
560 XESRD La Tremenda +FM 89.3 Santiago Papasquiaro, Dgo. 10,000 1,000
IRCA says 5000/250 watts with 0600 closing. WRTH shows 10/0.1 kW, so there we have three different night power figures! New one here, per search of DXLDs (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 570, March 17 at 0546 UT, ``Noti-radio quinientos setenta``, ``más informes, más música`` and indeed followed by music rather than information; also mentioned México, and next break repeated the slogan which is not in any of the references: Cantú, IRCA Log or WRTH. So which XE is it?

The listings show XEBJB as merely ``Radio 570``, 5/0.5 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, WORLD OF RADIO 1661, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 620, March 17 at 0552 UT, official PSAs for Cámera de Senadores and then Cámera de Diputados about what great work the pols are doing in vague generalities, then ``La Norteñita, Chihuahua`` jingle, i.e. XEBU, Chihuahua city (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 660, March 17 at 0554 UT, Spanish pastor closing with address in NL, full legal ID for ABC Radio, 660, XEFZ, 10,000 watts, street address in Monterrey, 0555 choral NA. Monterrey is far enough from the border not to be influenced by early start of DST in El Norte (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 730, March 19 at 0547 UT, XE choral NA playing at odd time on weak signal under Spanish talker, latter presumed XEX. That narrows it down to one of the octet of other Mexican 730s (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 770, March 21 at 0608 UT ``Los 40 Principales`` 104.3 FM ID, rock in English, dominating channel. Hard to believe it`s the 100- watts-at-night XEREV, Los Mochis, Sinaloa, as in IRCA Log, but it`s the only XE on 770 with that slogan and that corresponding FM. Cantú agrees the power is 5000 watts day, 100 watts night. WRTH says the day power is only 1000 watts, but all three agree on the night power. My first definite log of this one (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 900, March 21 at 0602 UT after choral NA, full ID for XEDT, Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, and XHDT 98.3 with 25 kW; then music starts but abruptly cuts off the air at 0603*, apparently intentional midnight close for the AM side, but extremely rude. At least it`s more than the sked in IRCA Mexican log showing 14-02 UT on 900. Did not hear the name `Hits FM` as in IRCA and WRTH, but it`s obvious the AM is now treated as subsidiary (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 1480, March 17 at 0600 UT, reconfirming that the KBXD DX test in not happening, instead I get something in Spanish, ID sounds like ``La Fogata Norteña``, into choral NA. It must have been short version as retuned at 0602 I had already missed a more specific ID. No such slogan listed anywhere for a Mexican 1480 station; searching on it leads only to a restaurant in México DF! Fogata means bonfire:

Of the 1480s listed, most likely one of: Monterrey, Monclova, Delicias. But is it really a new station slogan or another restaurant? (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1320, March 15 at 1307 UT, Spanish timecheck for 8:08, temperatura tope 12 grados, I thought they said, meaning predicted hi, somewhere in the CDT zone. I thought I had KRDD Roswell NM as DF seemed ENE/WSW, but that`s in MDT. Heavy CCI; then I am still getting it with a SSE/NNW peak, so points to KXYZ Houston, which is CDT, but today`s hi per NWS there will be 78 degrees F = 25 C. Maybe it was really the current temp. Wish we had a schedule of what times KXYZ is SS rather than Chinese or others. 

Hmmm, I should be looking at Tejas-border Mexicans, which observe CDT already unlike most of México and would routinely temp in Celsius, i.e. XECPN Piedras Negras, Coahuila, 20 kW day power with news format per IRCA Log (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
