Didn't hurt to try Paul, and thanks for your dedication to the hobby.
Business must be good for them to be unpleasant about it, particularly to
someone in the business.
Next kick at the can, I wonder what a 30 second spot costs at 2am on a
non-brokered station, particularly for a non-profit? A quickie IRCA
information ad with Morse IDs? I sympathize with they sentiment that
one shouldn't have to pay for a DX test, but it shouldn't come as news
that stations don't owe DXers anything, and maybe some of us geezers (not
Paul, I know) have a dime or two left at the end of the month.
best wishes,

I approached an WLYN 1360 & WAZN 1470 about a conducting a "DX Test" for
us
DX'ers. They are a brokered/paid programming station so I was going to be
happy if I got 60 seconds of morse code at at the top of the hour at 2am
in
the morning on this Metro Boston, MA area rimshot
The GM said no, so I did something I've never ever ever done before... I
offered to buy, out of my own pocket, 15 minutes of time on a one time
only deal at 1 or 2 in the morning....
The station still said no.. and wasn't terribly pleasant about it.
