It's interesting that you mention this, Nigel. Yesterday morning during sunrise enhancement at 1545 I had a weak co-channel on 972 with HLCA, but since I had already received China on the same frequency a couple of years back, I figured that it was nothing special (even though the garbled language certainly didn't sound like Chinese :-)

     With all the TA activity tonight I haven't had the chance to check 
my recording from this morning until now, but it was an exceptional 
morning for Asia.  I left the antenna looking north once more, and was 
rewarded with plenty of interesting signals.  774 was about the only 
Japanese signal doing much, but it was quite good at 1430.  972 was 
quite good, but not Korean.  I suspect it's Tajikistan, where I heard 
VOA back in 2009.   It wasn't //1539 this time though, where I was 
hearing VOA Urdu, so maybe it's relaying Voice of Russia at that time. 
1026 was in Russian, another I haven't heard since 2009.  Apart from 
1539, the mideast was also represented by Radio Farda on 1575, with time 
pips and an ID at 1430, and Kuwait on 1593.  Also a weak signal on 1413 
at 1433.  Was hoping for BBC Oman, but too weak to ID.   1098 was in 
quite nicely for a while in Chinese.
A real mixed bag of goodies this morning, with all this in the 1425-1515 
time period.
