[IRCA] TP 1 Dec, 2012 / Victoria version

Walt said it in a nutshell....VoA on 1575, very strong at times, and lasted almost until 1600UT, but slipped under my local noise a few minutes before. I heard a fair bit this morning, but it was very erratic, and it was hard work getting the DX. The erratic peaks became stronger after about 1515UT, but the valleys were just as unreadable. In fact, most of the DX was lucking into stuff mostly as it was fading away from its peak, and did not come easily. (except for 1575) I'm sure there's more on the recording, but no time to listen, hi.

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

1575 VoA. this showed weak audio at 1426UT, but just kept on building, peaking about 1525UT; at 1530UT with a nice EE ID "welcome to the Voice of America in Burmese", followed by a woman presumably in Burmese.

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):

1575 passing through

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be
understood by a native speaker:

594 JOAK man and woman in JJ 1524UT
774 JOUB man in JJ popped up 1427UT, but disappeared just as quickly

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

567 JOIK woman talking 1516UT, but no parallel available; checked recording, and //594 at 1520UT
603 woman talking, KK inflection? at 1433UT
612 light vocal mx 1457UT, 4QR sneaking through?
738 instrumental mx at 1422UT, likely Tahiti as not much Asian action at this time 828 man talking 1505UT and other times, likely JOBB, but difficult to get two NHK2 stations up a the same time.
1116 man talking CC inflection 1520UT
1287 woman talking, JOHR? 1523UT
1503 JOUK man talking //594 1524UT
1557 man talking CC inflection 1434UT, Taiwan? Heard after 1500UT as well, but never very strong 1566 HLAZ man in CC inflected talk 1421 and 1536UT and other times, but just no zip this morning
1593 CNR1 woman in CC //6125 1430UT
1593 NHK2, first few bars of JJ national anthem //1602, then both faded (catching 1593 was after the fact on the SDR recording) 1602 NHK2, few bars of JJ national anthem at 1540UT, then snippets of chimes; 774 also heard occasionally at better strength

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

639 972 1188 1242 1269 1314 1377 1548

best wishes,

Nick
