This morning was a bit more like it. I started listening late
(1445UT, needed my sleep after some physically demanding work days),
and most of the action was on the upper band, but we definitely had
ignition. Some audio hung in until 1600UT, 3 low pips and one
higher pip on the hour on 1557 for example; low pips seemed slightly
longer than NHK pips.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):
1566 HLAZ man in CC at 1528UT
1593 CNR1 man in CC //6125 at 1524UT; both these quite consistent, if
not always at this strength
reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
594 JOAK woman in JJ at 1523UT
1557 instrumental mx at 1541UT then into western pop mx; CC woman at
1547UT; likely Taiwan, though where is their programming coming from now?
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or
noise could be
understood by a native speaker:
774 JOUB, s/off chimes at 1521UT this morning
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :
828 JOBB woman talking, too weak for language ID 1458UT, but NHK pips
on the hour
1044 CRI woman talking, then man //7220 1523UT
1116 woman talking 1528UT didn't sound DU
1161 man talking at 1527, CC inflection? Taiwan has been heard here before
1179 ? slow instrumental mx 1501UT, nothing on hour; man talking at
1522UT had a more CC than JJ sound.
1242 man talking 1526UT, JJ inflection, so could have been JOLF
1287 two stations at 1535UT? man talking / woman talking; CC inflection?
1314 man talking then mx 1523UT, might have been Tagalog? may have
been a mixture of stations
1359 CNR1. Echoey CC pips at 1500UT, and // to 1593 and lagging
slightly with fanfare after the hour; echoey talk also noted, so
presumably receiving more than one transmitter
1395 slow talking man at 1538, didn't really sound CC, but too much
splash to really tell
1503 JOUK oriental choral mx //594 1457UT
Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):
558 1098 1296 1422 1458 1539
best wishes,
Nick
