Listened from 1225-1542 utc.  Much better this morning than a year ago on this date. Last years receptions listed below. Chinese stations this morning along with Vietnam on 775.  Russia on 648 hung around 1520 utc. Japanese stations did not hang around late was they did Sunday morning.  A couple of unknowns on 1125 & 1179.  A nice morning to start the week.


153    RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1225-1228 good signal with Russian rap music. HPAW. 10/29/2012

180    RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1229 very weak signal with end of rap song and into Russian talk. HPAW. 10/29/2012

209    ALASKA, Yakataga CYT 1235 fair signal with weather forecast. HPAW. 10/29/2012.

279    RUSSIA, Radio Rossii 1340 heard during second long wave scan of band with good signal. 10/29/2012

379    ALASKA, WSX 70 Kenai 1236-1238 very weak signal with weather forecast. HPAW. 10/29/2012

394    ALASKA, KAK 20 Kodiak 1239 fair signal with wind speeds for Kodiak area. HPAW. 10/29/2012

529    ALASKA, SQM Level Island 1244 fair signal with weather forecast. Splatter from near bye NOAA TIS station on 530. HPAW. 10/29/2012

567    JAPAN, JOIK NHK1 1502 weak signal with man in Japanese. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

594    JAPAN, JOAK NHK1 1501 fair signal with man in Japanese. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

603    REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLSA 1342 assuming the station with music and weak signal. W-|SW ewe. 10/29/2012

639    CHINA, CNR1 1448 fair signal with woman in Chinese. Kind of echo sound to the audio. W-SW ewe. 10//29/2012

648    RUSSIA, Radio Free Asia 1517-1520 Korean Service. Fair to good signal with woman in Korean with music also heard. Good signal heard on all four antennas. 10/29/2012

657    DPR OF KOREA, 1450 Good signal with woman singing and // 3250. W-SW ewe.

675    VIETNAM, VoV 1 1453-1458 weak to fair signal at times. Woman in Vietnamese with steady talk. Shortwave // not received. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

693    JAPAN, JOAB NHK2 1249 fair signal with moderate splatter with Radio English Conversation program. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

747    JAPAN, JOIB NHK2 1250 weak signal with Radio English Conversation program. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

774    JAPAN, JOUB NHK2 1251 good signal with Radio English Conversation program. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012.

774    AUSTRALIA, 3LO 1251 station underneath JOUB's good signal. Assuming 3LO. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

828    JAPAN, JOBB NHK2 1254 fair signal with Radio English Conversation program. "Lady Gaga raises $35,000 for charity relief fund for Japanese Earth Quake victims."  W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

864    REPUBLIC OF KOREA HLKR KBS 1 assuming the station heard from 1348-1351. Weak at best with moderate KPAM splatter. W-Sw ewe. 10/29/2012

873    JAPAN, JOGB NHK2 1353 weak to fair signal with woman/man in Japanese. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

972    REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLCA 1300 fair to good signal with 2+1 pips. Man/woman in Korean. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1044   CHINA, CRI 1408-1410 good signal with woman in Japanese. // 7215, Moderate splatter. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1098   REPUBLIC OF KOREA, 1425-1432 HLCJ assuming the station with Asian music and talk. Weak to fair signal at times. NW-ewe. 10/29/2012

1125   UNKNOWN, 1432 threshold signal. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1179   UNKNOWN, 1436 weak signal with woman singing Asian style music. Heavy 1180 splatter ruined channel. NW-ewe. 10/29/2012

1206   CHINA, CRI 1302 fair signal with woman/man in Korean. (PALs). Faded out at 1303. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1323   CHINA, 1308-1312 poor to very weak signal. Woman speaker. Russian in schedule at 1300 utc. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1566   REPUBLIC OF KOREA, HLAZ FEBC Excellent signal with woman/man in Japanese. Received on all four antennas. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1575   THAILAND, VOA 1328 good signal with Vietnamese. 1330 signal now weak "This program has coming to you from the Voice of America from Washington" Still around with very weak signal at 1524. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012

1593   CHINA, CNR1 1337 fair signal with man in Chinese. // 5945. W-SW ewe. 10/29/2012
