Wednesday morning 1300 to 1315 UTC
And Thursday morning 1300 to 1310 UTC
Set-up at Jordan River - Point no Point cabins with
a Gary DeBock modified Tecsun PL-380 radio and a ICOM 703+ and Wellbrook
ALA100M
(Wednesday) 738 khz - loudest signal on the band -
could have been English, might have been French - no
idea. Not enough to read anything.
Noted absence of 747, 774, 828 Japanese and any of
the Korean powerhouses... 972 to 1566 khz etc.
Lots and lots of hets on most of the upper band (1200 and up)
but no audio...
Thursday morning - lots and lots of hets across the band -
only hint of audio was on 1566 and that might have been even
imagined.
On the ham side of the house, was running the "legal" limit on
the ICOM 703+ (10 watts) and snagged 1 QSO with Russia, 2 from
Alaska (all SSB) and managed to check in on the "BC Net" on 80 meters
which was astounding considering I was using Workman mobile whips
with a simple wire radial system - and battery power.
Good DX to all.
