Hi George,
One of the reasons why you probably won't see many daily DU-DXing
reports from the West coast TP-chasing group is that unlike the Asiatic
TP's, most of these South Pacific AM stations do not propagate very
well inland, even during summer on the west coast. There is usually a
major difference in DU station signal strength right on the Pacific
beaches, in comparison with a few miles inland.
Perhaps because of their salt water environment Nick and Walt in
Victoria seem to have somewhat of a DU-DXing edge, but even they rarely
report obscure DU's from home (they don't have a straight salt water
path to Australia and NZ from Vancouver Island). On the other hand,
even Ultralight radios right on the Pacific beaches of Oregon and
Washington can receive a great variety of DU stations when conditions
are good.

You might have been the only one listening George; at least you
couldn't depend on me for this morning. However, I do run a
propagation monitor, and the output didn't really look that different
from any other morning recently, that is, not very promising.
Maybe the transPacific DX is skipping into your area rather than
making an appearance a few tens of miles inland from the ocean? Keep
listening and reporting, and I'll try a little harder if I can.
best wishes,
Nick
