I have used a 160 M dipole for both receiving and transmitting on the ham bands and receiving MW. The 160M dipole is quiet and has a lot of gain for MW (it's a little directional especially on the high end) and with a tuner can be used for 160M-10M with your transmitter. Get a good phaser and a LW and you got yourself a steerable high gain MW system.

Subject: [NRC-AM] Antenna Options





     In an effort to save space and the appearance of my backyard, I'm thinking of putting up just one antenna up for both MW and Amateur Radio. I could put up an 80m Dipole, but I might even see about a 160m Dipole. Any thoughts or opinions on the matter would be appreciated. Does anyone else use just a single antenna?
