[IRCA] Bob Barry, 1931-2011
Long time Oklahoma sport broadcasting legend, Bob
Barry Sr., passed away this weekend.
He was the voice of the Univeristy of Oklahoma
Sooners on WKY from 1961 to 1972 and again on
KOMA/KOKC from 1991 through the 2010-11 basketball
season. He called Oklahoma State University Cowboys
games on WKY from 1973 to 1990. For a time, he also
broadcast University of Tulsa Hurricanes basketball
games. He was also the long-time Sports Director at
KFOR television.
I'm sure many DXers have heard and are familiar with
his voice. He will he missed by sports fan in the
Sooner state.
