I was involved with some testing of prototypes for the Kiwa Loop when he was
developing it, and also for the rare "MAP" unit (I also designed the front
panel).
If memory serves correctly, Craig manufactured the Kiwa "High Performance MW
Loop" from late 1989 to 1992-93. When his supplier of the large diameter PVC
tubing stopped carrying the product it was too expensive and a hassle to get
the material from farther away. Like with the MAP unit, Craig "over
designed" the Kiwa Loop and it was not very profitable for him. It took a
lot of electronic assembly and mechanical assembly to built one (including
the spiral grooves for the loop wire cut into the PVC with his clever, home
made spiral cutting machine). These two Kiwa products were just not cost
effective for him to build. It was also getting harder for him to acquire
the Murata filters used inside the MAP.
Craig learned early on from the NTK and Murata filter companies about the
coming "DSP revolution" that would make small ceramic filters for receivers
obsolete. Even in the mid-1990s they were starting to shut down their
factories.
