[IRCA] Class C AM Signal's
I've been in my new town for 3 months and finally decided to 'road test' my
nearest AM signal, "Classy 1400" WKBI St Marys, PA.
There is a 150 foot tower literally in my backyard, so I used it, FCC
Antenna Structure Registration ID 1229408 as a starting point. WKBI's AM
tower is ASR# 1026670.
I am 6.7 miles or so from WKBI's AM tower and their signal is completely
unlistenable on a car radio at night at my house. I'm quite surprise... it
could be because of ground conductivity or maybe because WKBI's AM tower is
in a kinda bowl.
WKBI-FM 93.9 (Class B) and WJNG-FM 100.5 (Class A) antennas are on a tower 1
block from me. There's a CP for a 110W on 91.1 from that tower. So, for the
first time in years, Im nowhere near an AM tower.. but surrounded by FM.
Thankfully, the 50KW ERP (FM) station I work for has a transmitter about 18
miles away.
