Hi Paul, My life is over because of 1190 being blocked, lol! In all
seriousness, I totally get the broadcasters right and in no way did I
mean any disrespect. As a hardcore dx'er that will make 1190 a
difficult freq to dx.

Remember when WOAI was the only thing at night on 1200, and what a mess the channel became when it was broken down in the east by lesser-powered 1200 signals in Chicago and Boston and central PA and Virginia and so on?

1190 was doomed to that fate way back in 1995 or thereabouts, when WLIB bought (and then sold) WOWO in order to remove WOWO's class A protection and break down the channel.

We've had a 16-year reprieve thanks to a series of lawsuits among the various midwest and southern 1190s fighting over whose application for night service would be approved...I think Atlanta was in the mix at one time but then decided not to move forward, and I have a vague recollection that Dallas tried to expand its night signal as well. But as soon as WOWO's class A status went away, it was pretty much guaranteed that the channel would become a noisy nighttime mess eventually for anyone outside the protected signals of the other old-timers on the channel in Portland and Dallas and Guadalajara.

And of course one DXer's "mess" on 1190 is another DXer's chance to hear something new. St. Louis on 1190 would certainly be a new catch in my log, which is pretty empty on that frequency.
