Re: [IRCA] Drake R8 sensitivity

I recently had my Drake R8 worked on for audio spiking problems. Some of
the older electrolytic capacitors had to be replaced and the circuit board
cleaned. The cost of repair was only $50 and the technician was really good. The
unit was sent to Valley Ham Shack in Loveland, CO.

Subject: [IRCA] Drake R8 sensitivity

I have noticed since getting the R8 back, the S Meter is more sensitive
to minor changes. I normally get local KSWB 840 at 9 miles at S9+38 days
(1KW) and S9+35 nights (500w). But at times depending on conditions, the
signal can drop or go up a bit. I have noticed anywhere from S9+32-35
(500w) to S9+38-40 (1 KW). This is on the SW EWE.  Anyone ever notice
this on locals?
