>>KHJ's tower site was about a mile from where I grew up in Los
Angeles. In those days, it had an on-site engineer to babysit the
transmitting machinery. I'd drop by every once in a while to say hi
and we would end up talking for hours. He gave me two pieces of
advice that have served me well for years and years: 1) Pick a job
like you would a wife. Don't be swayed by glamor, but something you can
enjoy waking up to every morning. 2) Don't be overwhelmed by the
complexity of something (while looking at the wonderful old KHJ
transmitter). Take it component by component and pretty soon the pieces
will all fit together for you. Neat old guy.

Very good advice.
