[IRCA] JVC "DIAS II" - IF DSP in a Car Radio

I have a new JVC KD-HDR60 car radio on the way, and in reading up on the
specs again I was surprised to discover it has a form of IF-DSP filtering
and demodulation (in both AM and FM). This is evidently similar to the DSP
Tecsun, Kchibo, and Grundig models using a SiLabs chip. The feature is
termed DIAS and stands for Digital Intelligent Advanced Sensing.

Does anyone have hands-on experience with one of the JVC car radios in the
"HDR" series, or one similar in another manufacturer's line-up?

Some car audio forum comments I've come across say the result is lower noise
and more resistance to powerline interference, and that weaker stations seem
to "pop out" and become more audible (I liked that comment!).

JVC's own information about the DIAS II (an upgrade version over the
original DIAS) says this:  *"**JVC's digital technology helps maximize the
performance of regular analog broadcasts. Because unlike analog tuners which
are based on hard-wired circuitry, the all-digital DiAS (Digital Intelligent
Advanced Sensing) tuner relies on digital programming on a unified chip to
deliver versatile next-generation performance. Its advantages include high
sensitivity and selectivity with a 16 bandwidth variable Digital IF filter,
digital pulse noise canceller for all bands (FM/AM) and intelligent
Multipath Noise Canceller for longer stereo reception."*

I'm guessing that "16 bandwidth variable Digital IF filter" automatically
adjusts itself for best S/N. If not, what other criteria would the receiver
automatically choose? To my knowledge the bandwidths cannot be manually set
by the user.

The datasheet for the KD-HDR60 (
http://resources.jvc.com/Resources/00/01/36/46.PDF ) has a block diagram
illustrating signal flow through the DIAS circuitry, with the caption
"Single Chip Radio DSP". Yep, that sounds like the SiLab chip DSP portable
receivers!

The radio was $79.99 brand new, through an Amazon.com Marketplace seller.

I also discovered that this JVC radio has selectable 9 & 10 kHz channel
settings, so guess who will doing a bit of DXing (safely!) on the go?   :^)
