Reception of NHK powerhouses was much improved this morning. It was marred by static from nearby thunderstorms. Receiver: Modified Tecsun PL-310 & 7.5-inch loopstick. Sunrise was at 1243 UTC.
558 unID, 1236, carrier, fair. A weak signal was still audible at 1306.
567 JOIK Sapporo J, 1220, man speaking JJ, poor.
594 JOAK Tokyo J, 1237, man talking JJ, poor. Signal audible until sun was above horizon fading out at 1253.
648 unID (VOR?), 1222, carrier, slight het, CKOM 650 slop.
693 JOAB Tokyo J, 1224, "Basic English" program, poor, distorted audio, KGGF 690 slop. At 1254, man talking, barely audible, fading out at 1255.
702 unID, 1226, carrier. Barely audible at 1304.
729 unID, 1227, carrier (het).
747 No signal audible due to severe KRMG 740 slop.
774 JOUB Akita J, 2100 JST TS at 1200, followed by "Basic English" program, fair. The 2200 JST TS at 1300. Carrier was still being heard faintly at 1309.
828 JOBB Osaka J, 1230, strong het, poor "Basic English" audio. Fading carrier still heard at 1304.
972 unID (HLCA?), 1215, slight het, 970 kHz slop. Still audible at 1235.
No TP signals was heard in the upper half of the MW band.
I spent a few minutes listening for TA's overnight.
162 France Inter, Allouis F, after 0500, typical FF talk, poor (G313e & long wire)
531 F'kirina ALG, 0554, woman singing AA, fair (PL-310)
909 unID (BBC?), 0606, strong het in WSUI 910 sideband (PL-310). Interestingly, WSUI was relaying BBC World Service.
1089 unID (UK?), 0618, slight het (PL-310).
