Hello All,
This morning's mediocre session could best be described as a repeat
of yesterday, but without yesterday's weird propagation boost around 1410.
The near-comatose TP's received no such miracle rescue this morning, and it
was "survival of the fittest," as conditions were near their worst of the
new season. Several Japanese "big guns" produced decent audio this morning,
but the normally strong 738-BEL2 and 639-CNR1 Chinese only came up with
poor, wispy signals. 657-Pyongyang managed a few psychotic shouts through the
noise, and 603-HLSA apparently was there with weak, dreary KBS music to
match the mood. Thankfully, this comatose session was buried early as the
sunrise enhancement (?) collapsed prematurely, around 1415.
The following were received on a C.Crane SWP model (7.5"loopstick)
inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop (in the back yard).
A modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) was used as an SSB spotting receiver--
but it didn't spot much this morning.
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Best signal of the dreary morning with
good-strength Japanese YL and interval music, prior to
the 1400 TOH _http://www.mediafire.com/?7oes2f0id18rxzl_

603 HLSA Namyang, S. Korea (presumed) Ghostlike music rising
above noise occasionally around 1350
639 CNR1 China Synchros Poor male-female Chinese at 1414
648 VOR Razdolnoye, Russia (presumed) Threshold audio 1352
657 Pyongyang BS, N. Korea Full-voiced shouting reduced to
faint whimpers by the poor propagation around 1412
666 JOBK Osaka, Japan Fair-good NHK "big gun" survivor with
Japanese interview program at 1348, // with equally strong 594
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Poor Chinese talk and pop music 1355
828 JOBB Osaka, Japan Poor audio during language program 1345
1134 JOQR Tokyo, Japan Heard alone on this frequency for the
first time in a month; poor-fair Japanese speech at 1411
For those Ultralight DXers in inland states looking to receive their first
Japanese "big gun," a recording of the standard NHK "3 + 1" top-of-the-hour
time pips (from 594-JOAK this morning) is posted at

73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
