Hi Nick,
Thanks again for your TP report from Victoria, and it's always interesting
to compare propagation to different areas.

936-Anhui was only at a fair-good level here this morning, but the signal
level was good enough to record part of the English study program on the
station. The English speech that you noticed on 936 yesterday morning was
being analyzed by a female teacher speaking in Chinese, with the English speech
played again for reference.

It's also interesting that Walt apparently had NHK on 639 kHz this
morning, where here it was all CNR1, with no trace of anything else. The
Chinese-favored low band propagation here was also noticed by John B. last year, but
last season I was mostly chasing new stations with the 9' loop, and not
attempting to check the entire band each morning.

Just a few minutes listening after 1400UT here this morning, and generally

pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at
least
briefly):
747 JOIB
774 JOUB
reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable
by a
native speaker, though often battling w/splash or noise):
828 JOBB
not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise
could be
understood by a native speaker
1287 JOHR
1566 HLAZ
Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at
by
cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :
864 channel was quiet enough to hear mostly a gentle ~1Hz SAH even with
the BFO off, but audio was very faint
936 hardly at the booming level described by Gary
1143 Taiwan? also mostly a SAH rather than audio
Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):
1323
1377
best wishes,
Nick
