Hello All,
Overall TP conditions this morning were generally modest, but it was
another bizarre "China morning" when some of the mainland stations had
their best strength of the season. Both 639-CNR1 and 756-CNR1 fell into this
category, and 738-BEL2 wasn't far behind. Unfortunately 738-Taiwan's
transmitted signal was again full of obnoxious spurious products, wasting the good
strength by splitting up into three different sub-signals (buzzing, a
"zoom" noise, and rough audio).
558-HLQH was again alone at the 1400 TOH with no sign of JOCR, and
639-CRN1 had a fine signal at this time (with a possible weak Asiatic
language co-channel, that was not // 594-JOAK). The Chinese stations on 927 and
936 kHz were in and out with decent audio around this time, and both
1035-CNR1 and 1044-CRI were coming in with good strength. By comparison the
Japanese "big guns" didn't sound so big this morning, and most of the Koreans were
modest. Except for the vibrant Chinese signals, this morning's session
could be described as pretty lackluster.
The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5" loopstick)
inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop (in the back yard). A
modified ICF-2010 (30" loopstick) was used as an SSB spotting receiver:
558 HLQH Daegu, S. Korea Fair Korean speech at 1400 TOH, // 603
585 JOPG Kushiro, Japan Threshold Japanese audio in and out 1339
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Good Japanese conversation program 1335
603 HLSA Namyang, S. Korea Dominant over Chinese at 1400 TOH
639 CNR1 China Synchros Best signals of season at 1404; standard
CRN1 interval music at end of MP3

648 VOR Razdolnoye, Russia Fair-good Chinese program at 1355
657 Pyongyang BS, N. Korea Good tirades in and out all morning
666 TP-Mix JOBK and Radio Mayak producing a weak mix at 1348
675 VOV Hanoi , Vietnam In and out with weak VV talk at 1353
738 BEL2 Penghu, Taiwan Good strength but obnoxious, divided
signal; the "zoom" sounds (like a male voice) are actually
transmitted spurious signals
