[IRCA] Puyallup, WA Ultralight TP's for 9-14

Hello All,

Asiatic TP conditions overall seemed a shade less impressive than the
last couple of days, but there were still some interesting signals. Again
using the fanatical 9' PVC box loop, 675-Vietnam had good signals in and
out around 1314 (along with a slightly ragged carrier), and most other
low-band Asians had fair to good audio at times. 738 kHz had a rough-sounding
carrier from the Taiwan direction again, perhaps indicating that BEL2's
transmitter is acting up like it did a year ago. A recording on 738 kHz at 1343
had Taiwan mixing with Korean speech (presumed HKLG) at a fair-poor level,
along with some humming noise.
With the exception of the two CNR1 stations on 639 and 756 kHz the
Chinese stations had difficulty producing audio this morning, and 927, 936,
1044, 1377 and 1593 stayed at the moderate carrier level. The Japanese were
generally good, with the typically overachieving 20 kw 891-JOHK all alone
on the frequency. For those ULR-DXers looking for new TP countries,
September is usually a good month for the reception of 675-Vietnam here, with its
signal seeming to drop off later in the Fall Season. It's usually the
dominant TP on 675 kHz at this inland location.

The following were heard on a C.Crane SWP Slider model (7.5" loopstick)
inductively coupled to a 9' sided PVC tuned passive loop (in the back yard):

558 JOCR Kobe, Japan Good Japanese music and speech around 1303
585 JOPG Kushiro, Japan Fair-good Japanese in and out from 1305-1315
594 JOAK Tokyo, Japan Strong with NHK1 program for most of morning
603 TP-Mix Fair strength Korean (HLSA) mixing with Chinese conversation
639 CNR1 Fair-good Chinese speech and music at times from 1310-1330
648 VOR Razdolnoye, Russia Fair strength Chinese program at 1321
657 Pyongyang, N. Korea Strongest of the low-band Asians this morning
666 JOBK Osaka, Japan Competing with JOAK for strongest NHK1 station
675 VOV Hanoi, Vietnam Best signal of season so far at 1314; typical
martial

slop

891 JOHK Sendai, Japan All alone with decent NHK1 signals around 1345
972 HLCA Dangjin, S. Korea Korean speech fair-good for most of morning
1053 Korean Jammer Vibrant signal, again shutting out all co-channel
TP's here
1134 TP-Mix JOQR Japanese and KBS Korean at a very good level around 1330
1566 HLAZ Jeju, S. Korea Typically strong Japanese religious program at
1312
1575 VOA Ban Rassom, Thailand Variable Asiatic language signals ranging
from poor to good throughout sunrise enhancement, as
typical

73 and Good DX,
Gary DeBock
