[IRCA] Carribean Beacon

1610 is using a 50kw Nautel Amfet but running at reduced power anywhere
from 1 kw to 25kw into a half wave tower. Things changed years back when
Gene Scott bought the station. Prior to the sale when Bill Kitchens owned the
station, his engineer also maintained the local government station gratis.
1610 received a sweetheart deal on electricity from the government and
locals bought time on the station.
After the sale things changed as Gene operated at arms length from the
locals. With the friendly relationship cooling off the power bill when up to
the commercial rate which was over 20 cents a kwh etc.etc.
Adding the cost of juice for the shortwave, it was prudent to throttle back
the big AM as well as the operation on 690 which now only simulcasts 1610.
And yes, the voice you hear preaching is Melissa, a former "dancer" who
married Brother Scott in his later years. I wonder who got his collection of
hats?
