Re: [IRCA] Slightly OT: Receiver spotting on TV

An observation on 21st century "period pieces":

Ever notice that if the movie is set in 1964, everybody is driving a 1964 model car?

Or if the movie is set in 1941, everybody, including the poor, is driving a new 1941 car? Not a Model T in sight, although there must have been millions of them still on the road in 1941.

And how does the woman being harrassed by a telephone pervert always manage to get an immediate dial tone a split-second after the perv finishes his final cackle?

Businesses in movies apparently all answer their phones by saying "Hello!". With the caller , it's always "Hello - Murphy's Market?", "Hello - Sears Roebuck?", "Hello - City Hall?", etc.

On a beer commercial beach scene with GE Super radio.
Dont remember brand, only do Pilsner Uquell now. Not priced for maintenance but
tasty....

I usualy spot TV's & yell out the brand, after almost 40 yrs fixin
them I am quite good at it.
Many bloopers such as a movie set in the 50's with a 12" Panasonic solid state
B&W !
Old sets best from front, the knobs give it away. Newer sets best from rear.
Model tag style,
screw type & color and ears make for a good ID. Reading brand tags is cheating !
Often removed anyhows........

As seen on a recent episode of "Fringe" -

A DX150B - being used as a low-frequency audio
generator!
