Many "daytimers" (Class D stations, in FCC parlance) have obtained
authorization for low power operation at night. WGMI is one of
these. The permitted power is calculated on the basis of having no
significant impact on the nighttime coverage of other stations. In
addition, Class D stations have no coverage protection at night, so
other stations do not have to include them when calculating nighttime
interference to other stations.
