Re: [IRCA] State Count

I'll chime in here and say that trying to complete an entire state (obviously one nearby for most of us) will challange both your DXing skills and your antenna skills. You'll become more proficient with sunset skip DX and also likely with sunrise skip and it may also be that you take that ULR of your's and get it just right to null that 50 kw pest and the desired 250 watter from the other side of your state is just copiable for 30 seconds during their quick sign off.

Here in Barrington IL, Iowa has been completed for several years, and I just completed WI. I need just a few for IL, and 4 for MN (northern GYers) and just a few for IN.

High school sports can be a big help in this endevor !

Thanks! I'll try to follow your lead and see what I come up with. Feel free to pass along your Excel files if you can and I'll set mine up similar to yours.

Subject: [IRCA] State Count

Hi;

Over the past few months, I have noticed many DX'ers working on
completing states and mentioning their State counts. As a casual DX'er,
I may never get to complete one state but I'll have fun trying!

Over lunch, I used Excel, which I use to keep my logs, to break down my
logs via State/Province (my overall log is exclusively US/Canadian).

Obviously I live in Indiana - and Central Indiana at that. Guess what?
I have heard more stations from Tennessee than my own state and TN
doesn't even border Indiana! I'm guessing that HSFB added quite a bit
to those totals. I've lost my logs (may still have them, somewhere) but
many of the dates that I have penciled in an old NRC log, from TN, were
from Friday nights in the Fall. Michigan is another oddity, only 23,
trailing GA, TX, AL and so on. My domestic (US/Canadian) total stands
at 791, 37 states (+DC and USVI) and just four Provinces. If anyone is
interested, here is my top 20:

TN 69
IN 67
IL 56
OH 51
KY 42
ON 39
GA 36
TX 30
AL 27
MO 27
AR 26
NC 26
WI 25
MI 23
IA 22
LA 21
NY 19
SC 19
FL 18
MS 18
