[IRCA] TP for 1 Dec from Victoria, BC

A quick listen at 1420UT didn't yield much of interest, and I can't say that conditions at 1500UT astonished either, yet with time spent listening, odd things popped up, not strong at all, but definitely DX. As Dennis noted, CNR-1 on 1134 made another appearance, though I didn't hear it until late, but it was the only thing heard on that channel. 855 yielded CNR-2 with the only sign on N. Korea being a slight roughness on the carrier; no hum. And 639's CNR-1 was generally quite strong this morning as well, often much better than the big gun Japanese.

pretty darn good audio, at least briefly (all of it understandable by a native speaker)

594 JOAK, but not until 1512UT
639 CNR-1 from 1459UT on
774 JOUB

reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a native speaker,
though often battling w/splash or noise):

828 JOBB
972 HLCA , later on

not so reasonable audio, occasional words or phrases in splash or noise could be understood by a native speaker

567 JOIK //594
603 SAH and 2 stations, one seemed HLSA per later 558 //
675 likely Vietnam from 1515 on, no SW // available
747 JOIB
783 music, Asian direction, at 1525; no idea
855 CNR-2 //7245 at 1517UT
873 JOGB //774 at 1507
1134 CNR-1 at 1528

Burbles in the splatter and noise (if lucky, language might be guessed at by cadence of talk, or parallel established by changes in talk or music) :

558 a mess at 1540; seemed that something was //603, so HLQH
576
612 JOLK //594 at 1534
657 hum and seemed //2850, so N. Korea
666 a mix, one was //594 at 1531UT, so JOBK
702 seemed //774, so NHK-2 pair
756 a mess, later on
765 mx at 1521, no idea
918 CC inflected talk
945 messy, couldn't winkle out a parallel to 5030
963 a mess
1143 a couple of audios?
1269 at 1536UT; 1287 down, so no //
1287 at 1534; hardly much worse one hour later
1566 finally, at 1535UT
1575

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):

864, 1098, 1251

Incidentally, though yesterday was pretty much a washout, listening to an SDR-14 recording at 1300UT yielded CRI on 603, not a big signal and it is a relog, but I still can't believe that this southern China, directional south, signal can be heard here at all, let alone during poor conditions.

best wishes,

Nick
