Hello All,
Having discovered some pretty healthy Asian TP signals around the pretty
unhealthy local hour of 0300 yesterday, it was an easy decision to try for
more DXing success during the Asian sunset period early this morning.
Unfortunately the TP's that were fairly strong yesterday seemed up and down in
strength this time, and second-tier Asian audio was nowhere to be found.
Around 0930 UTC the NHK powerhouses (594, 747, and 828 kHz) and usually
strong Koreans (603 and 972 kHz) seemed to fade in and fade out in unison,
similar to the rare TA appearances here in late October. At one moment all
the NHK powerhouses (and 603/ 972 Koreans) would have decent audio, then they
would all dive together down into the noise. This was in contrast to
yesterday morning's session, when not only the powerhouses were strong and
steady, but stations like 1287-JOHR and 1503-JOUK had audio.
738-Taiwan was one of the stronger stations around 0945, but there was no
mainland Chinese co-channel like yesterday around 1100. Even though this
morning's weird propagation was different from recent sunrise DXing sessions,
it wasn't probably wasn't good enough to compensate for the inconvenient
hour. I guess the Asian TP season really is coming to an end, no matter when
you decide to DX :-)
