[IRCA] Puyallup, WA TP's for 11-16... Uninspiring
Hello All,
After yesterday's disturbed conditions, this morning's TP expectations were
not high-- and the band certainly lived up to the low expectations.
A quick scan on the modified ICF-2010 at 1420 revealed very poor TP levels,
with weak audio only on 738-Taiwan Fisheries and 666-JOBK (for some
bizarre reason). The other NHK "powerhouses" were only moderate carriers from
1420-1430. It was an easy decision not to set up the large loops in the back
yard.
Another quick ICF-2010 scan at 1455 revealed that the band had improved
somewhat-- to mediocre conditions. The NHK powerhouses now had weak audio,
along with weak audio on 603-HLSA, 639-CNR1, 648-VOR, 657-Pyongyang and
972-HLCA. These were not the desired conditions, however, and it seemed hopeless
to stick around to try for anything new.
Despite the two-day doldrum stretch, from previous seasons I recall that
mid-November propagation is usually better than this, with a few good days
mixed in with the bad. So with great optimism (and a newly improved 7.5'
"nasty weather" PVC Loop) I'm looking forward to more Asian TP surprises, along
with the typical rain and wind that pounds Puget Sound every November.
73, Gary DeBock
