[IRCA] Radio noise
Radio noise in the 60s was minimal with only two man made sources to screw up the excellent reception(especially in the winter during clear weather). One was the tv whine produced on some frequencies if it was in the hearing range and the other was those pesty fluorescent light tubes with the faulty starter cans and then of course lightning in the summer every 3 days.Without the pests,it was possible to listen to the big guys in the Eastern states from eastern New Brunswick during daylight hours. Some of these big guys were coming in from Boston,Albany,Buffalo,NYC,Baltimore, and other big cities. From Saint John NB it was and maybe still is possible to listen comfortably to 1510 in Boston 24/7/365 across 300 wet miles. Those were the days of good DX with barefoot transistor portables.BILL in BC
