[IRCA] TP for 30 Oct from Victoria, BC
Was up late last night, so didn't get to the radio this morning until 1440UT. Results not too different from Colin's although without the visual and other effects (breakfast must have contained some interesting side dishes up on the hill this morning, hi)
594 is a bit of a mystery; the non-JOAK signal was also observed here, often on top, though not as strong as JOAK was at peaks. Gary D. has heard KBS there, but KBS-1 can be hard to parallel. Neither 711 or 1305 were in this morning, and 756 seemed to be China if it was anything at all. And, an earlier attempt at finding a webstream ended in failure.
Also did some SDR-14 recording overnight, and threw the files away rather quickly. Not much useful across the hour at 1000, 1200 or 1300UT this morning.
pretty darn good audio (at least briefly):
594 JOAK , though often u/unID signal
603 HLSA at 1447 //558, w/mx underneath
774 JOUB at 1449, usually rougher than this level (!)
972 HLCA
reasonable audio at times during the period (though often battling w/splash or noise):
828 JOBB
not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise:
279 R. Rossii
558 HLQH //603
567 JOIK //594
621 hum and the mystery CC
936 likely Anhui
1017 likely CRI, not //774
1134 //972 at 1450UT
Burbles in the splatter and noise:
576 (nothing like the strength Colin got)
738 mx
756 seemed //5030, so CNR-1
801 mx at 1456
1566 w/big carrier
Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter):
(didn't listen long enough to dig at this level; as is so frequent now, DX could likely have been found by hard work.....)
best wishes,
Nick
